Alexander Wang, usually known for his progressive silhouettes and urban designs, is moving into the realm of surfboards. The designer has been leaning towards the non-wearable lately, with the recent release of an Alexander Wang ‘Objects’ collection, including leather and gold bike locks, snake embossed coasters and a super stylish mouse pad.

The fashion powerhouse teamed up with Australian surfboard maker, Haydenshapes to create the set of marble emblazoned boards. Wang follows in the footsteps of Karl Lagerfeld who designed luxury Chanel surfboards a few years ago.

The handmade boards are printed on fine silk in Wang’s signature black and white palette. Although it’s likely the boards will never actually touch the ocean, they are in fact practically viable, having been developed using Haydenshapes ‘Hypto Crypto’ model.

If you find yourself in New York any time soon, have a look at the boards which are on display in the Alexander Wang Soho flagship store. Sadly they aren’t for sale, but if you’re keen on breaking waves in the lap of luxury, Haydenshapes has announced an upcoming release of limited edition marble surfboards.
