Welcome to ‘Out of the Box’ our weekly roundup of must-cop sneaker releases landing on Australian shores. Here you’ll find a selection of heat curated by our sneaker correspondent Lyam Chapman, and all the info that you’ll need to make sure that you don’t miss out on any key releases.

Another week passes us by and it’s safe to say we are in for another huge weekend for our sneaker fam Australia-wide. It’s not necessarily the biggest weekend for releases but we can guarantee you that it’s going to be one to remember for everyone attending the highly anticipated ‘Sydney Swap Meet’.

Hosted by OG Jeff Lawrence and a small group of Sydney locals in conjunction with sneaker cleaning guru Jason Markk at Central Park on Sunday, July 19. Truly a beautiful location for a culmination of the SYD sneaker community to impress the crowds and leave a lot of us with empty wallets.

The team at SSM have got so much in store for the day with giveaways throughout, as well as more sneaker heat and quality streetwear than you could possibly need! Dress to impress with prizes for best on show. Check their Facebook for more event info.

THEXCHNG have made the trip down to Sydney, to show some love to our harbour-side family, with the remaining sizes from the .01 Collection on show at the SSM. Don’t forget to stop by the table and say hello to the team from Australia’s largest sneaker and streetwear buy-sell-trade online marketplace! Holding it down alongside some of Australia’s finest, such as Sydney’s halfsleeve and Melbourne crew SaintSid,e you can bet both spectators and vendors will be in for a treat. Make sure you and your squad are out in full force for the day to support the growing sneaker community in Australia!

One release we would like to highlight this weekend is Rotterdam store Woei’s latest collaboration with Onitsuka Tiger on the Colorado 85. Paying homage to their coveted ‘Cervidae’ GLiii from 2012, the retailer has followed it up with the quality materials and perfect execution we have come to expect from one of the best.

You can grab these from some of your best Asics accounts including Laced (Brisbane), Highs and Lows (Perth), Cabinet Noir (Perth), Above the Clouds (Sydney) and the Onitsuka Tiger concept store (Melbourne)

If you’re a fan of Kendrick Lamar, select Hype DC locations across Australia will have you covered with his latest controversial collaboration with Reebok. Celebrating its 25th anniversary, K.Dot has put his distinct flavour on the classic Ventilator. The clean white suede on top of a gum sole stamped with the bold red and blue inspire a connection with gang rivalry; a very personal topic for the Compton-bred rapper and one that he has been outspoken about being an advocate for change.

That wraps it up for this weekend but we look forward to covering the sneaker news over Australia again next time as we continue through a great year of releases.

Until next time don’t forget to peep THEXCHNG crew on Facebook and Instagram.

Peace!
