Four years after its launch, Civilisation V is still a hugely popular game for strategy buffs with a taste for historical pastiche. Challenging, century spanning gameplay, real-world leaders and insanely long playtimes have given it an almost timeless quality. One thing it has always been missing, however, is live music venues, bucket hats and American blue jeans. Reddit user soupjuice has amended this obvious oversight by injecting iPods, boomboxes and contemporary fashion sense into 16 of the game’s historic settings. The result are images that provoke some pretty meaningful questions from the viewer such as ‘did Gandhi and George Washington have the same jean size?’ and ‘Is Shaka the Terrible rocking a BAPE headdress?’.
