DC’s Spring 2018 collection is an ode to the past, with the future in sight. Teaming up with James J. Robinson, the quintessential skate brand paints their style on a completely new canvas. Rugby polo’s and satchels are a couple of items paving the way for a new DC: combining skate, lifestyle and streetwear in one wardrobe essential melting pot.
Australian-born, New York-based photographer James. J Robinson is the ideal director for this shoot. His grainy yet dense style encapsulated the vintage aesthetic of the apparel. The shoot takes place in an isolated pool room and explores an all-encompassing vibe of translucence and contentment. It’s a heavenly setting that sees the ripples of the water fade into a palette of green and the focus on DC’s evolutionary take on their usual vision.
This collection strengthens an already monstrous 2018 for DC, having already released the E.Tribeka – their new lifestyle sneaker. The silhouette takes some influence from the chunky bulk of the ‘dad-shoe’ trend but approaches it in a sleeker manner. The simple yet stylish quality of these sneakers boasts the ability to go with any outfit on the street-wear spectrum – culminating in the widest, most diverse reach the brand has ever had. With triumphs like this, it’s clear DC isn’t going anywhere anytime soon.
