Friday night saw the official Australian launch of Converse’s collaboration with the French fashion house Maison Martin Margiela. The stripped back simplicity of the shoe took centre stage with an install at Up There store. The first-time Converse Maison Martin Margiela collaboration features the Chuck Taylor All Star and the Jack Purcell sneakers, each completely hand-painted in Maison Martin Margiela’s iconic white paint. Covering all canvas, eyelets, laces and soles, they naturally crack and shed their outer coat of paint to reveal the original colors beneath. The more the sneakers are worn, the more their personality and colour is revealed.
The visual concept was carried out throughout the party with coloured balloons peeping out amongst the thick white canopy and lots of teeny white, blue and red food. The Converse Maison Martin Margiela sneakers are available for purchase globally at Maison Martin Margiela boutiques, and also in limited quantities at Up There Store Melbourne right now for $300.
