Footnotes is a weekly wrap-up of everything that’s happening in the world of sneakers. It’s your cheat sheet to the latest news like new drops, collabs, sales, store openings, and anything else related to what you put on your feet.

01. Balenciaga trail runner colourways revealed

We first caught a glimpse of Balenciaga’s new trail runner-style silhouette during their FW18 fashion now, but now we’ve managed to get a closer look thanks to this pic currently doing the rounds on Instagram. Following on from the wildly successful Triple S model this new sneaker showcases a slight twist on creative director Demna Gvasalia’s love of chunky silhouettes and textured layers. It’s expected we won’t see this model until late in 2018, which gives us plenty of time to decide on what colourway to cop.

02. adidas Originals Arkyn

adidas Originals have just launched a brand new women’s model: the Arkyn, a technical silhouette rooted in the brand’s iconic vintage style. The Arkyn is a sock-based design that features a technical mesh upper, with the three-stripe mark, and mesh tongue. Striking design elements like a neoprene heel and a minimalist lacing system raise the aesthetic profile of the shoe, while a Boost midsole with rubber outsole makes it extra cozy. It’s available now from adidas online and selected retailers.

03. Nike x Virgil Abloh rumours

The rumours and leaks for Virgil Abloh’s next round of Nike collabs just keep coming, this time with a new colourway leak for the Zoom Fly. It doens’t look like much has changed in the new version of the silhouette except for the colourway changing from opaque white to black. From the leaks and rumours we’ve seen so far it could be an indication that most of the changes to The Ten lineup will be colourway based rather than redesigns. This image comes courtesy of the py_rates leak collective, which will surely keep us updated as they discover more.

04. Converse launches 'Converse X' collective

Converse have always been a brand to keep their eye on the next generation of creatives and support up-and-coming talent. Now they’ve solidified their respect for the next gen by launching Converse X, a collective of young creatives that will be given a platform by the brand. Converse X members will be given access to unique experiences, masterclasses, and collaboration opportunities with Converse. The first big project off the ranks is a series of billboards popping up across Australia, starring the crew in the iconic One Star. For now Converse X is limited to Sydney but keep your eyes peeled as it grows and spreads around the world.

05. Parley x adidas UltraBOOST ST

adidas have once again partnered with Parley for the Oceans for a sneaker made from recycled ocean plastics. This time it’s the UltraBOOST’s turn to get the recycled yarn treatment. While these shoes are literally made from garbage they look like anything but. The ST model of the Boost sees it lose the cage around the upper but keep it on the heel, making a sleeker Primeknit focused sneaker. You can cop them right now from adidas online.
