Southern Californian shoemakers CLAE clearly know how to appeal to the masses, because their latest range features such an eclectic mix of styles it’s likely to draw double-takes from most of its onlookers.

Boasting a line of smart-casual sneakers, ankle boots, high tops and loafers, this diversity even applies to the actual materials they’re constructed with. Canvas and leather – both patent and suede – are used both in isolation and sometimes together on the same sneaker, resulting in a pleasing mix-up of textures, colours and aesthetics. The level of thought given to the soles is a highlight, with some of the more formal shoes get their soles dipped in vibrant canary-yellow or blood-red hues, whilst the rest of the line stands on thick white rubber soles that juxtapose with the rest of their body. It may be diverse but it’s all smart, polished and slightly sartorial.
