Just when you thought the Spring/Summer 2013 “To & Afro” collection couldn’t get any cooler, Melbourne-bred label P.A.M (a.k.a Perks and Mini) add a selection of indigo-dyed styles to the range. The vibrant hand-dyed garments include an oversized tee, jacket, shirt, chinos, shorts, and a cap, channeling streetwear at it’s best. Despite the collection’s street influence, P.A.M ensured the cultural richness of the garments remained.
Each item has been constructed with cotton hand-dyed in Dakar, using traditional Malian techniques. Using 6 metre deep pits filled with a fermented indigo dye solution, the cotton is folded and tied before being submerged. After drying, creases are removed manually by laying the fabric over large logs and using large wooden mallets to beat them out. The range can be found at P.A.M stockists including Someday.
