The race for the first self-lacing sneaker just heated up with Puma unveiling its Autodisc. Olympic speedster Usain Bolt recently premiered a video of him trying out the new sneaker/gadget. The flexible mesh sneaker will include Puma’s patented Disc closure system which features a servo motor that powers a uniquely configured cable system, offering tunable support throughout the shoe.

While the Autodisc may be better in usability, it lacks the futuristic awe factor of the Mags. It will be interesting to see if Puma drops the ill colourways we are accustomed to seeing on discs, at least an all white or grey version. The tech-gawds went to work on these but may have left a little to be desired in the aesthetics department.  I guess we’ll have to wait until they drop in 2016 to see the finished product.
