It’s that time of year again, when the celebs get decked out in their weirdest and most unattainable outfits and congregate in one place for the sake of art and fashion. The annual event is not only a fundraiser for the Met’s Costume Institute but a chance for us to see what ridiculousness our favourite (or otherwise) famous faces manage to turn out on the red carpet. Who could forget all the great fits from last year (hi Rihanna, seriously) and this year’s them ‘Manus x Machina’ had us thinking there would be mass robotic, ultra-futuristic, cyborg-looking creations but the red carpet has been pretty tame this year, if we’re being honest.

Harsh lines and reflective surfaces feature on some of the more daring creations, and there was still some skin showing but it seems the celebs have taken a more toned-down approach to this year’s theme. Plus, no Rihanna. The ladies got a little creative with their looks, with obvious stand-out Beyoncé absolutely killing it in nude latex, while the dudes kept it fairly classic with sleek suits, except for a select few including the eternal envelope-pusher Kanye, who showed up in double denim and blue contact lenses.
