The Kasina x adidas Originals Superstar 80s is sleek and all suede

The Korean retailer calls on some familiar influences for their Superstar collab

The adidas Originals Superstars seem to be one of the most re-designed, re-interpreted shoe and it’s easy to see why. The silhouette seems to be the go-to for everyone, from old-school adi fiends, to the fashion flock in every city, so it’s nice to have some options to stand out from the crowd when everyone wants a piece of your favourite shoe style. Fortunately the Three Stripes have been going hard with their Superstar collabs in recent years, with each one having their own spin on the design or colour but maintain that classic silhouette.

So really, it was only a matter of time before Korean sneaker store Kasina added their own personal style to the growing list of editions. Previously, colour has been a major focus in remixes of the popular sneaker, with each edition seemingly getting brighter and more out there. But Kasina have decided to step away from the crowd and take a turn in the complete opposite direction.

Minimalistic, sleek and simple – that seems to be the design brief of the new Superstar 80s. It features a black suede heel cap and tongue which contrasts against the off white suede upper and medial side panels. That’s right, it’s basically entirely suede, which creates a real lush aesthetic. To continue with the contrasting black theme, they’ve also included black brand stitching which seems to reference Kanye’s Yeezy Boost 350, his first silhouette for adidas, and to top it off have added a few splashes of red.

It’s an interesting design as the left and right side panels differ and step away from the traditional adidas concept, but one that works nonetheless. Check it out in the gallery above and keep your eyes peeled when they’re released on August 20 at selected retailers.
