When Kanye announced at the drop of YEEZY Season 3 last month that he was planning on making the clothes more affordable, we didn’t really get our hopes up. The original line saw jacket prices as high $4000. That might be pocket change for Mr West, but we hoped that as a potential presidential candidate, he would try to be better keeping his promises than most politicians.

YEEZY Season 2 was much smaller than its OG, but this new drop is on a much grander scale. With a full selection of men and womenswear, with accessories and footwear for both, it’s easily his best line yet. The washed-out palette is contrasted with brighter colours than we’ve ever seen in his work, that manage to compliment rather than clash with the earthy tones.

But is it actually affordable? According to Highsnobiety, the crewneck sweaters and hoodies will go for $370, oversized t-shirts in premium fabrics are priced at $200. Not a bad start, but as we move on, the faux shearings are priced between $600 and $700. Pants start at $250 and go as high as $450. Washed canvas base are priced between $300 and $400.

So basically “more affordable” to Kanye means three digit numbers instead of four. Yes, it’s an improvement, and big ups to Ye for giving us something new to save up for this winter. At this point, we’d probably settle for a pair of the duckboot shoe laces.
