Trainspotting is one of those seminal ‘90s films, earning cult classic status and catapulting the careers of its (then) young actors, including Ewan McGregor. And now, 20 years after it was originally unleashed on us, director Danny Boyle has given the clearest indication yet that we’re in for a sequel in the (hopefully) near future. Speaking with Deadline recently, the film’s director revealed that “all four main actors want to come back and do it” and, pending some of the stars’ television schedules, would be his next project. It’s been said that the follow-up will be loosely based on the actual novel’s sequel Porno by Irvine Welsh. It’d be pretty perfect for this to line up with next year’s 20th anniversary, but we all know how show business works and we’ll just have to keep an ear out for more updates in future. In the meantime, re-live the classic trailer above.
