5 Iconic Megan Thee Stallion Moments

An unapologetic graduating baddie in the midst of a hectic music career, Megan Thee Stallion has proven to be a fierce icon in everything she does. Just to remind you in time for her Australian debut at Festival X, we’re providing you with 5 of Hot Girl Meg's most iconic moves to date.

It goes without saying that Texas-native, known Hot Girl, and unstoppable rapper, Megan Thee Stallion, is an icon without need for further explanation. The importance of her raw and relentless approach to music and image far surpasses any form of intense criticism she may be hit with, as she proves time and time again that she will come out as her most authentic self nonetheless. Eager to see her treat her Aussie hotties with an unmatched live performance experience, we had to show her love where its due. Here are some of our handpicked icon moments from none other than Megan Thee Stallion!

1. WAP with Cardi B

When Megan Thee Stallion teamed up with fellow rapper Cardi B on the track WAP (2020), it immediately took the world by storm. From its provocative lyrics about owning your sexuality and sensuality, to its music video featuring cameos of iconic women from the likes of Rosalia, Normani and Kylie Jenner, the song was bound to make history. The raunchy, in-your-face essence of the track is said to speak to a more contemporary message of female empowerment. Speaking to GQ, Megan mentioned that the criticism that the song faces comes from people not knowing what to do when a woman is in control, and taking ownership of her own body. She goes on to say that typically, women are frowned upon for seeking out sex as pleasure, and when they do, it “freaks men the hell out”.

Despite the controversy, WAP skyrocketed everywhere it went, now sitting at certified 7x Platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America since its release, and was still only Megan’s 2nd number-one single in the US. The music video, directed by Colin Tilley, broke the record for the biggest 24-hour debut for an all-female collaboration on Youtube. In an Australian context, it became the third female hip-hop song to top the ARIA Singles Chart, and the first to do so since 1992. In addition, it spent six weeks atop the ARIA Singles Chart, becoming the longest-running number one single by a female hip-hop artist in Australia. It’s clear that the cultural impact of WAP is beyond any other. Though an undeniable club banger, and a culture-shifting moment in music, this moment plays a vital role in the women’s sexual liberation movement today, and is only one of many moments Megan Thee Stallion reached icon status.

2. Erykah Badu And Megan Thee Stallion at Gurtenfestival

During her set at Switzerland’s Gurtenfestival, Megan Thee Stallion brought out Mother of Neo-Soul, Erykah Badu, to join her on stage. What unfolded thereafter is something hot girls could only imagine in their wildest dreams, until that night.

In the same carefree nature that Badu has always possessed, Badu shared the stage with Thee Stallion, twerking to Kitty Kat from Meg’s album ‘Something For The Hotties’. Megan went on to post about the moment on Instagram, writing “Real mf TEXAS SH!T REAL MF HOT GIRL SH!T” to express her shock. Met with screams and applause from an enthusiastic crowd, this moment definitely goes down in music history as one of the most iconic things to happen ever.

3. Graduated from HBCU Texas Southern University

Balancing college and a hectic music career is no easy feat, but Megan Thee Stallion accomplished it all in December 2021, wrapping up her college studying with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Health Administration at HCBU Texas Southern University. She didn’t shy away from sharing the moment with her fans, posting her graduation photos and bejeweled graduation cap, forever to be memorialized online. Writing about this pivotal moment on Instagram, the rapper said
“I want y’all to remember that you can do whatever you wanna do and be whoever you wanna be, cause look at me!,”, proving to her fans that anything is possible.

Speaking to Harper’s Bazaar about managing her studies in between her music career, she thanked the strong line of matriarchs in her family for the motivation to get to the point of finishing her degree.

With her degree in tow and a keen mind to put it in action, Megan’s spoken openly about her next steps being to open an assisted-living facility, with hopes of enlisting her fellow classmates to run the facility. Allowing her two career paths to merge together, she’s decided to use the money from her music to fund the facility. Though keen to see this idea fully fleshed out in due time, for now, the sentiment is something we can definitely appreciate!

4. A Megan Thee Stallion x Marvel crossover

For both Megan and Marvel fans, the above is a title you’d probably never imagine would occur. However, two worlds collided together when Megan Thee Stallion made her Marvel debut on the newly-released series, She-Hulk: Attorney at Law.

Playing none other than herself, Meg’s cameo is a striking one at that, appearing in a courtroom scene alongside She-Hulk. Sitting in the back of the court, making her small cameo one to remember, Meg is seen doing her signature tongue poke and exclaims “There’s only one Megan Thee Stallion!”. The Marvel context involves the star, as She-Hulk is hired as a lawyer for a client who though they were dating Megan Thee Stallion, but instead, were involved with an Asgardian shapeshifter who took the form of Meg, and hustled him out of money.

The creators gave the fans more of what they wanted in a post-credits scene showing Megan and She-Hulk dancing and twerking it out. The crossover doesn’t stop there. Formerly working on HBO show Legendary, alongside Jameela Jamil, Megan claimed to have been a massive Marvel fan. Jamil then took matters into her own hands, passing on that information to She-Hulk Head writer and executive producer, Jessica Gao. The dancing scene was coined by Gao and She-Hulk actress Tatiana Maslany as the single most important scene in all of the MCU. From there, the rest is history.

5. Meg brings her fans on stage!

To share a stage with an artist you idolise as a fan is something very uncommon in today’s live gig environment. Megan Thee Stallion does not shy away from providing her fans with an on stage experience, making it a common ritual to twerk with a select amount of fans at many live performances she does, particularly seen during her festival runs. However, when security at Reading Festival told Megan Thee Stallion that they weren’t allowed any fans on stage with her, she wasn’t having it. She began her set off by telling her fans that security weren’t going to let anyone on stage, but followed it up by bringing a guard out and telling fans that he was going to help her bring her “hotties” out and on stage. Laying down some necessary ground rules first of not being on your phone the whole time and to fuck things up, fans were riled and ready for a shot to dance on stage next to their favourite rapper. She brought on one group first, dancing on stage her music before posing for pictures with them. She then brought out another group of fans, one wanting Thee Stallion to sign her chest, and another telling Meg that her boyfriend had broken up with her. Naturally, Meg criticised that boyfriend and went on to make her fans night by dancing with her, as well as the remainder of the group.

This kind of interaction with fans from a star of her popularity and calibre is earnest and admirable, and goes to show Meg’s care and consideration towards her fans at her live gigs. A moment to never forget for the many fans she interacted with on stage, this definitely gives Meg’s concert and festival experience a one-up on everyone elses. Will Australian fans get the chance to dance alongside Hot Girl Meg onstage? Only time will tell!
