Along with the sexy accent, clear skin and inherent style, here’s potentially another reason to wish you lived in France. A new labor agreement has been set in motion to ensure that employees will no longer check their work emails outside of work hours. Imagine not being attached to your iPhone and refreshing that app? Weird.

This ’email ban’ has come in to uphold France’s work/life balance and the spirit of the 35-hour-week that was implemented in 1999. Though that is a nice ideal and worked for a while, the rise of smartphones has lead to an obvious increasing demand for overtime work and being constantly on-call.

So far 250,000 employees, including the French offices of Google and Facebook are covered by the new rule. Meanwhile, we out here still hittin’ refresh.
