Sixteen year old Mexican teenager, Erandy Elizabeth Gutierrez (left) allegedly knifed her BFF, Anel Baez (right), also 16, a staggering 65 times in retaliation after Baez had posted naked photos of her on Faceboook.

According to Mexican media reports, Baez asked her best friend over to her Guamúchil, Sinaloa state, home on March 19, in an effort to and patch things up, and appologise for the “humiliating” photos.

When Gutierrez arrived, she allegedly asked to use the bathroom, but instead grabbed a knife from the kitchen then used it to repeatedly stab Baez.

Although she fled the scene, she attended the funeral three days later and was apprehended by police.

Gutierrez had supposedly already made a number of threats on twitter, stating: “It may seem that I am very calm, but in my head I have killed you at least three times.”

At the risk of sounding like an old man and editorialising; it’s a crazy and tragic example that shows the risks of living in a world where the boundaries between the public and private spheres have become so blurred.
