New York City makes a deep impression on anyone who has the pleasure of knowing it and this web documentary, a part of Jordan Brand’s #PlayForNY campaign, aims to explore what it means to represent the city as an athlete. The first of three episodes, the clip stars New York Knicks baller Carmelo Anthony.

Celebrating the ‘New York State of Mind’ and both the honour and pressure that comes with representing NYC, this episode focuses on Melo’s upbringing in Brooklyn’s Red Hook section and his early addiction to basketball. Featuring wise words from Melo, his family, NBA legend Bernard King, and even a spot from Nas, you can really feel the passion and sincerity with which they speak about their hometown.
