This week’s Sound Guide was put together by West Sydney-based producer 99hurts. Best known as the brains behind the beats for his brother Tommy Gunn as well as his work with OneFour’s YP, Kapulet, and contributing to tracks from international artists like Tory Lanez. 99 Hurts draws influence from hip-hop, trap, drill and jersey to create high-energy production, which serves as the foundation for Tommy’s sound, which aims to redefine the narrative of the Asian-Australian experience. For his sound guide, the Sydney-raised beatmaker showcases some of his work alongside his brother, some of his favourite tracks out of West Sydney, all mixed in with bangers from New York artists like Kelz2busy and Stunna Gambino — no skips!
