Manchester’s Aitch is one of the UK rap scene’s biggest stars. His first single ‘Straight Ryhmez 1’ dropped in 2018 and thrust him into the spotlight at the age of 18. His instantly recognisable Manchester twang paired with some of the cheekiest bars in rap right now has cemented his place in the scene, earning him features on some of the most beloved UK rap tracks of 2019, including the remix of Russ Splash’s huge single ‘Keisha & Becky’ and Young T & Bugsey’s heater ‘Strike A Pose’.

More recently, the now 20-year-old Aitch has crossed over into the mainstream with features on Stormzy’s ‘Pop Boy’, Ed Sheeran’s ‘Take Me Back to London (Sir Spyro)’ alongside Stormzy and Jaykae, plus his own single ‘Taste (Make It Shake)’ which reached number two on the UK Chart.

Ahead of his first Australian tour, we caught up with Aitch to get his guide to the top five rappers from the Manchester scene.

01. Mastermind

Mastermind has always been wavey! He has had his own kind of vibe from the day I first heard his music. His style of creating music is sick and I think he can go very far if he keeps doing what he’s doing. Big him up 10x!

02. Svmi

I could never not put Svmi on this list. He has gone from filming music videos for the whole of the Manchester music scene to creating his own music and it’s absolutely going off in Manchester right now. Everyone in Manchester is locked in and he is soon to blow outside of Manchester too.

03. Meekz

Meekz has been shutting it down ever since his first freestyle video and he brings the road element of music to a different level, the Manchester way! Right now he’s hot and I’m sure it will stay like that.

04. P1 Caps

P1 Caps has strictly represented grime in Manchester from the get go and he continues to do so. Even though he does branch out into other genres, he always manages to find his way back to shelling down grime beats. Nothing but ratings for him.

05. Bugzy Malone

Of course this goes without saying, [but] he was the first MC in Manchester to pop off and he’s always stayed in his lane. Very successful brudda and a sick representative for Manchester. He will kill it forever. Whether it’s music or not, I know he will always be successful in what he does.
