Erykah Badu has been taking over our audio and visual playlists—first, dropping a Drake remix, then revealing a collab with ex André 3000 for her well-received mixtape But You Caint Use My Phone and now, she’s just finished up her hosting duties at this year’s Soul Train Awards.
We all know Miss E isn’t averse to a bit of controversy, all in the name of fun and games, but one of her onstage jokes took direct aim at Aussie rapper Iggy Azalea. Answering her hotline, Badu can be seen ‘talking’ to Iggy, saying “what you do is definitely not rap”.
And the crowd reaction? Pretty much exactly what you and I just said after hearing the burn. Don’t know if Iggy will even choose to respond (can’t we already call this an L for her?), especially since it looks like she’s been staying away from her social media accounts for a minute.
Unfortunately for Iggy, this isn’t the first hit she’s taken in recent times, with her manager TI raising major questions about their professional relationship, and radio host Sway also sliding in a dig during Allday’s recent appearance on his show.
