Weekly updates

If you like your hip-hop sultry and your pop spooky and both electronic, you will love Lapalux and oOoOO – the latest underground future beat artists to hit Australia and New Zealand.

Lapalux, who has just dropped his When You’re Gone EP on Flying Lotus’s Brainfeeder label along side Gaslamp Killer and Daedelus, creates technicolour melodies and woozy beats or – alternatively – music that would fit in Rosemary’s Baby but in a floaty-dream-sequence way rather than horror-and-death kind of way (this is directly from Lapalux’s FB – ummm?)

oOoOO (said, simply ‘oh’) is signed to Tri Angle – the home of Clams Casino and Balam Acab amongst others – and creates a haunted blend of Southern hip-hop, pop and beats. “There’s something very dark in most really good pop music,” says oOoOO, and I imagine what all this means is, his forthcoming EP Our Love is Hurting US is the equivalent of finding out your bunny got ran over while Lady Gaga holds your hand.
