Mushroom Group, creators of Future Music Festival, this morning announced the news that the festival will not be returning next year.

According to a press release issued by the promoters, the decision to axe the festival was due to inadequate ticket sales in 2014 and ’15.

“Mushroom Group share the belief expressed by a number of promoters globally that the day of the large scale travelling festival in its current form is unfortunately numbered.” the company announced in a press release.

2015 has been a bad year so far for the festival industry, Soundwave recently revealed that they will not be returning to Adelaide next year and it is seems more unlikely that Big Day Out will return at all.

Mushroom Group Chairman Michael Gudinski said; “The decision to discontinue Future Music Festival was not made lightly.  A point came though where it simply no longer made sense to continue.  We believe in the festival industry in Australia and plan to announce an exciting new festival concept in the coming months.”

I think the most important thing here is that nobody blames Drake for what’s happened.
