As September 13 marked the 19th anniversary of the tragic passing of Tupac Shakur, members of the hip-hop community including Kendrick Lamar, have taken to social media to pay their dues to the fallen rapper. Posted to 2pac’s official website, the TDE affiliate reflects on the first time he saw Pac at the Compton Swap Meet while filming the ‘California Love‘ video with Dr. Dre. “I was 8 yrs old when I first saw you. I couldn’t describe how I felt at that moment. So many emotions. Full of excitement. Full of joy and eagerness,” wrote Lamar, who admits the short time spent with the rapper ultimately changed his life.
It goes without question that the legacy of Tupac will continues to live on and influence the direction of hip-hop culture for many years to come. You can view K.Dot’s tribute, along with a couple more famous faces, in our gallery above.
