The O Awards are oh so social media and celebrate the intersection of music and technology.
The awards were held in New York, and unlike many other prestigious ceremonies, did not have red carpets or gloriously OTT banquet style seating arrangements. The awards begin with a 24-hour live music extravaganza, which this year saw ultimate party superhero Andrew W.K set a world record for the longest drum session in a retail store. He played the entire 24 hours straight in the Times Sqaure Oakley store.
Internet native Kitty took out the prize for best web-born artist, on the back of RiFF RAFF collab Orion’s Belt, breakout viral track Okay Cupid and the freshly-released Ay Shawty 3.0, all over the last year.
Naturally, she took to Twitter to celebrate:
I WON!!!!!!!!! I SHOULDA DRANK THE MARGARITA FIRST THO CUZ I CHOKED UP ON THAT STAGE
