Ahead of the release of J Dilla’s forthcoming vocal album The Diary, Mass Appeal decided to drop ‘The Sickness’ featuring vocals from Queens’ finest Nas and production from Madlib. J Dilla’s company PayJay has been revived to release Dilla’s long lost vocal album. The album was created in 2002 and is the last batch of unreleased music that Dilla was preparing to release.

After ‘The Sickness’ dropped Nas shared a statement regarding the song and one of the greatest hip hop producers of all time.

“May J Dilla continue to Rest in Power in Hip Hop Heaven for eternity. Honored to play a part in his works and honored to be a part of this song. He shines down on us with while we get to enjoy his Diary Of J Dilla album. His word ring loud on this one. Salute to all those who collaborated on this piece. Salute to Detroit and his family.”

The Diary will be dropping this weekend on April 15.
