The start of spring always comes as a pleasant surprise. You wear fewer layers, and cold days become fewer and further between. Spring fever sets in and love (lust) is in the air. My favourite part of spring is hearing your summer jam – that one song that heralds the heat and soundtracks the coming months of frolicking, good times, and, if you’re lucky, summer crushin’.
One such ditty is Karen O‘s latest acoustic lo-fi number ‘Days Go By’ with its stripped-back fuzz. This song comes from impeding solo album Crush Songs, which was written during peak spring fever:
“When I was 27, I crushed a lot, these songs were written and recorded in private around this time. They are the soundtrack to what was an ever-continuing love crusade.”
