PREMIERE: SWIDT link with B Wise and Mikey Dam on ‘WONDERS’

The first in a trio of singles from their upcoming drop ‘GOOD THINGS COME IN THREES’, this NZ and South-West Sydney crossover is a unique take on a rap ballad, with SWIDT’s signature sauce.

SWIDT have been making noise in the New Zealand and Australian hip-hop scene for a hot minute. The collective shined on their 2017 debut album STONEYHUNGA, receiving the Tuis for Best Hip Hop Album and Best Group of The Year at the New Zealand Music Awards. They’ve continued to expand their reach since with EPs STONEYHUNGA: The Bootleg EP and The Most Electrifying, which featured anthems like ‘Conquer’ and ‘Praise’. Now, after inking a deal in Australia with Brigg’s Bad Apples imprint, the group is returning with the 3 pack of singles GOOD THINGS COME IN THREES, and have enlisted South-West Sydney’s own B Wise and Mikey Dam on the standout ‘WONDERS’.

On signing the crew, Briggs told us “I linked with SmokeyGotBeatz from SWIDT on my first trip to NZ. I watched their show loved the energy of the guys and what they represent for their home and their culture. This is a great step for Bad Apples Music and SWIDT; to open opportunities & pathways here to NZ, between First Nations, Black & Brown artists.

On ‘WONDERS’, SmokeyGotBeatz blends guitars, booming 808s, and rattling hi-hats for a beat that’s equally euphoric and banging, providing the perfect backdrop for the back-to-back bars from INF and SPYCC. Their contrasting flows complement each other as they pair wordplay with their signature swagger. On the tail end, B Wise pens a playful verse to his love interest, amplifying the energy and thriving in confidence. This is strung together by a hook from Mikey Dam, who’s autotuned falsetto makes for an undeniably ear-catching melody. The video switches from scenes of INF in a field holding a cat, SPYCC by a horse on the beach, B Wise flexing in a hotel room. As you’d expect, it’s pretty damn fly.

Check out the video for SWIDT, B Wise, and Mikey Dam’s ‘WONDERS’ above, and look out for GOOD THINGS COME IN THREES dropping tomorrow.
