Run The Jewels MC El-P took to Instagram over the weekend to preview a few clips from RTJ side-project dubbed “Meow The Jewels“, which was made possible by a $45,000 KickStarter campaign last year. With no release date set yet, the album is made up entirely of cat-beats instead of music, most of which El-P collected from animal shelters across Brooklyn. Most of the profits will be donated to the families of Eric Garner and Mike Brown, who were the victims of police brutality incidents last year. A portion of the proceeds will also go to the animal shelters.
Amongst the list of collaborators on the album that include Zola Jesus, Baauer, Geoff Barrow of Portishead, Boots and Dan The Automator, a very special guest is set to make an appearance — Lil Bub.
Cats have taken over our homes, our internet… and now our music. It’s a catastrophe (not sorry).
You can check the previews from El-P’s IG here, here and here.
