Spoiler alert: A few things you are about to learn about T-Pain from this video – he is actually a really funny dude and he has a really, really good voice in real life. Performing a very live and intimate set as part of NPR Music’s Tiny Desk Concert series, T-Pain is accompanied only by a mate on keyboard as he performs a few of his hits, minus the Auto-Tune that became so ubiquitous with his music. While the effect is normally used to enhance lacklustre vocal range, it’s quickly obvious that T-Pain never needed it for that reason. Honestly, this video has spawned a whole new level of respect for the rapper-turned-singer for me and now I only ever want to here ‘Buy You A Drank’ acoustically forever.
