The Palace x adidas Originals collaboration is almost here and it’s about to take you back a few decades. With their penchant for the lo-fi aesthetic, the London skate company has turned out 22-piece range of ‘teamwear,’ reminiscent of football kits and a time when David Beckham and Michael Owen were the fresh-faced teens on the Premier League circuit. Treated in a more subtle colour pallette, the range includes trackpants, hoodies, shirts and accessories that wouldn’t look out of place on the pitch or at the park.

Palace’s Lev Tanju describes the collection as a balance between the new ‘relevance’ of athletic wear and the skate brand’s strong aesthetic. “We like weird stuff, we don’t want it to be normal. If people don’t get it, that’s even better, because there’s nothing really to get. It’s just clothes we wanted to make.” (See more from the dude in the hilarious promo video above.)

Honestly? It reminds me of childhood weekends, when my dad and his mates would don their fleece sweatshirts and nylon shorts and hit the football pitch. This isn’t a bad thing because my dad is my hero and I still can’t get enough of vintage nylon sports gear.

Take a look at some of the pieces above and keep an your Palace/adidas Originals stockist this weekend because you know this super-limited run will be snapped up fast. The collection is released globally on September 27.
