Batter up – adidas Originals and Opening Ceremony have pitched a fastball with the latest instalment of their ongoing collaborative series, and this time it sees the familiar sports-meets-fashion collision taking place in the middle of the baseball field.

The collection borrows visual elements from the game and cleverly incorporates them as the highlight details across a range of luxe sportswear pieces. Criss-cross stitching on a fielder’s glove becomes the inspiration for a leather jersey dress and varsity jacket, and re-appears more subtly on button-downs and raglan pullovers; the heavy appearance of stripes gives a nod to the ref; and the red, white and blue colour palette is a reference to baseball’s iconic place in Americana.

The Spring 2014 line gets released this Friday January 31. Don’t sit out on the bleachers for this one.
