Pin Drop: Seoul and Tokyo

Melbourne-based photographer Anna Oh takes us exploring in Seoul and Tokyo.

Anna Oh is a photographer based in Melbourne. Her Seoul and Tokyo photo series is the next instalment of Pin Drop, a new series that showcases the vibrancy of cities around the world through the eyes of the creatives who both live and visit there. We asked Anna to tell us about her experiences travelling to Seoul and Tokyo.

“Seoul and Tokyo are cities marked by their detail. Standing atop Seoul tower, the city looked like a motherboard, a living, breathing piece of insanely-detailed pixel art. Walking through Nakameguro, I appreciated the contrast of flowers flowing into the gridded tiles of the architecture—a hallmark tourist snap. As such densely populated cities, there is a sense of making the most of every little space. Every detail, big and small, seemed organised, beautiful and considered. Not only did this seem true of the scenery, but of the cultural attitudes and way of life, leaving me fantasising about the life I could lead, should I become one of these small details.”
