Today marks the premiere of Tasmanian beatsmith Akouo’s brand new remix of Dutch producer GANZ’s track, ‘Lightyears’, featuring Melbourne’s own Maribelle.

This is a remix of the lead track from the Dutch producer’s latest EP Gao and it is by no means an injustice on what is already a stellar track from this exciting young artist. It’s built upon some eerie base samples, subsequently shaped around Maribelle’s gorgeous vocals and then capped-off with a chorus that Akouo has smashed and moulded into a dubstep glitch-fest worthy of your most quality pair of headphones.

The succeeding few minutes follows a similar pattern, until around the 2:30 minute mark where this thing does a complete 180, ups the pace and becomes a bonafide party-starter (or ender? Either way, it’s epic).

So far 2016 has been a rewarding year for both GANZ and Akouo, with the former set to put on what is sure to be a completely bonkers set at this year’s Splendour in the Grass. GANZ will also be doing a bunch of sideshows in the lead up to Splendour, and will be accompanied by Akouo, whose 2014 EP Mesa charted at number 1 on the iTunes electronic chart.

Having received unanimous acclaim from respected music titles, as well as having previously toured with Australia’s favourite dance duo Hermitude, you can be assured that fanboys and newbies alike will be in for something special when GANZ hits town.
