Elizabeth Rose has been on our radar for some time and this year, she’s getting ready to amp things up with the impending release of her debut album Intra, and a huge national tour to support it. While her music weaves between a number of different genres, there is a clear hip-hop and R&B influence in her sound and to get a more personal feel for her production process, we asked her to take us through her top five GOAT of hip-hop producers. Featuring some familiar faces from home soil and, of course, the US, we have a feeling this will probably tick off a few of your own top 5s as well.

Her national tour is set for June and will feature seven tour dates across Australia. Head to her website for full tour and ticket info.

Elizabeth Rose’s debut album Intra will be released on March 4. In the meantime, check out her latest single, with ACCLAIM fave Remi, below.

01. Timbaland

Timbaland is my #1 favourite producer! I recently read his new autobiography that I got for Christmas and it blew my mind. I totally didn’t realise he co-wrote and produced Pony by Ginuwine!!

02. Darkchild aka Rodney Jerkins

Another massive producer whose work I’ve followed religiously. ‘Say My Name’ – Destiny’s Child, ‘He Wasn’t Man Enough’ – Toni Braxton, and the nasty groove in ‘What About Us’ by Brandy!

03. M-Phazes

I was lucky enough to work with Mark for two tracks on my album Intra (‘Shoulda Coulda Woulda’ + ‘One Shot’!). He’s an amazing producer from Melbourne and has worked closely with Kimbra on her first record, Meg Mac, Illy, and Bliss & Eso. He’s a legend!!!! He produced this track for Keyshia Cole—so slick.

04. Dr Dre

After watching Straight Outta Compton, I’ve really appreciated a lot more of Dre’s work as a producer. He produced a lot for Eminem over the years as well as this wonderful gem by Eve featuring Gwen Stefani!

05. Pharrell

A multi-talented dude who has his own fashion label / stores, produces, and sings! I found out that he was quite close (and still is) to Timbaland after reading the autobiography I mentioned earlier. I have so many favourites that he’s produced. I’m listing two faves for this one.
